The beginning,
Back in a hospital room.
Yes, I am fine, I am well. I definitely do not need a room, but i am here. Why? Because my baby is down the hall in the Eastern Georgia Hospital NICU.
This feel all too familiar. If you were a reader of the The First Baby Story then you know what happened the first time around for me, for us; an early baby! Oh what excitement, worry, fear, heartbreak, grief, love, joy all wrapped up on one swaddle blankie.
This time, I was hoping it would be different. I treated pregnancy differently for sure. I rested a lot, well as much as having a toddler will let you. But I really tried to not overdo anything and it seemed to work. I was so relieved to get past the birth gestation of my daugher who was born at 30 weeks and 4 days. It was a milestone I was happy to cross, but we werent safe yet. I still had roughly 8-10 weeks to go.
But, as fate would have it, a 34 week and 5 day old baby boy entered the world in a very abrupt way.
And this is our story.
